June 09:

So far June is looking like a great month for the lodge! We have several new applicants and we conferred the Third Degree on 4 members. Congratulations Bill Elliot, Joe Ficht, Erich Hoff and Paul Jennings. In July we will start the cycle over and have an Initiatory Degree.

May 09:

Fort Worth is feeling the heat now. On may 14th, we initiated 6 new members. Welcome to Carrie Boone, Karen Olds, Brad Shelnutt, John and Mary Tyska, and Susan Wingfield! On the 28th, we had visitors. District Grand Master Nella Johnston, her husband Joe, and Amy Diller stopped by for an official visit. Good food and fellowship was shared before the meeting. On the 30th, several members went to Rufus' grave and performed the Odd Fellows burial service. Photos to come shortly.

April 09:

We held a Second Degree. Congratulations Bill Elliot, Joe Ficht, Erich Hoff and Paul Jennings. We have also set a tenative date for SausageFest (yes, we mean SausageFest) for September 26th. This will be a fundraiser so come by the lodge and join the committee.

March 09:

Degree Month! March saw our lodge gain 4 new members: Paul Jennings, Paul Nelson, Erich Hoff, and Elizabeth Nelson. Welcome new members! We also held a First Degree. Congratulations Wendy Mercer, Clare Lagroue, Erich Hoff and Paul Jennings.

February 09:

Good news and bad news this month. Brother Rufus Bryant passed away. He was loved by all of us at Heights 225 and will be sorely missed. He was our mentor, our touchstone, our link to the history and traditions of the Odd Fellows.There will be a web page for Brother Rufus in the near future. Rest in peace.

January 09:

Even though your webmaster and warden was ill and not present, 2 new members were initiated into the lodge in January. Join me in welcoming Lester Riley Logue and WT Burge. Most of the rest of the month was spent painting portions of the lodge and preparing for February's Chili Cookoff. Click here for more details.

December08:

Holiday time doesn't slow down the Heights lodge. Tupperware fundraiser gained $260 for the lodge. This is an on-going event so pick up a packet if you have not done so already. We had a productive meeting including a First Degree. Congratulations to Kelly Blakley, Macy Bodenhamer, Kelly Castator, Bill Elliot, Sam Ocean and Robert Prejean for learning the mysteries of this degree.

Elections for next year's officers were also held. Everybody was relected. Kenny Browning - Noble Grand; Terry Brooks - Vice Grand; Marilyn Brooks - Treasurer; Kimberley Criswell - Secretary. All other positions are appointed and are at the discretion of the Noble Grand. We have lots of empty chairs, so get in touch with Kenny if you are interested in one of these offices. All members are eligible for appointed office. We will be planning an installation of officers in January.

November08:

Another month, another visit. District Deputy Grand Master Danny Wood and Department Commander Paul Vest came down to see us on 11/13. Many thanks for coming and for the information you brought with you. Unfortunately nobody had a working camera for either visit.

October 08:

October highlights included the initiation of 2 new members - Robert Prejean and Sam Ocean; and a visit from Grand Master Jack Griffith and Grand Warden James Teel. Heights Lodge #225 would like to thank them for stopping by. In addition to the return of coolers and gas cans they had supplied for hurricane relief, we had a long beneficial discussion clarifying some issues that we were unfamiliar with. Members in good standing from any Odd Fellows Lodge, Encampment or Canton are welcome to stop by anytime. Check our calendar for dates. Email us ahead of time and who knows, we might even serve some dinner for our guests!

September 08:

Hurricane Ike put a serious crimp on all activities in Houston. Many thanks to the Grand Lodge for the truck full of supplies and offering shelter to Brother Rufus for a few weeks while his apartment was being repaired.

August 08:
