Brothers and Sisters:

Please note below we will be sharing our clean up date with some Masons! Be interesting to get to know some “other brothers”! As always, wear long pants and sleeves, put on sunscreen, hat if it’s sunny, gloves and bring yard tools if you have them, such as rakes, nippers, loppers, tarps for hauling debris, wheelbarrows. This is a great workout and we usually get a sandwich afterwards. It’s kid friendly, if you have them.

Good morning all I hope all is well with everyone

the Odd Fellows will have their monthly clean up of Olivewood Saturday December 20th starting at 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 with weather permitting, there will be a dumpster for this event to pull out the remaining brush the city generously cleared after Ike, we also have large water oaks down and would like to cut as much of those up and pull them out, so please wear long sleeves, long pants, gloves. Bring your mowers, weed eaters, chain saws, and tarps with you. We look forward to seeing you next Saturday. Olivewood is located at 1300 Court St., off of Studemont behind Grocer Supply

Good Afternoon to everyone

Descendants of Olivewood, Inc. (DoO) went to court to ask for guardianship of Olivewood Cemetery. On Yesterday Judge Davidson made the decision that Descendants of Olivewood,Inc. will be the guardians of the cemetery. This decision was made because of the immediate needs of the cemetery and those needs can not be met without a guardian. Judge Davidson stated time was not on Olivewoods side and because of the support of the community he felt our group should be given a chance to continue the current work. Judge Davidson's decision also came with some modifications to DoO restoration plan which includes modifications pertaining to surveying the property, legal establishments of boundaries, restoration of the headstones, fencing, security and permanent funding for the cemetery There is a lot of work that needs to be done and we look forward to the challenges a head we will continue to look towards the community for support

Thank you so much to those who wrote letters of support, for those who have rolled up their sleeves and have given and continue to give their precious time and sweat equity to this cause Yes we can and Yes we will restore Olivewood Cemetery and give it the dignity and respect it deserves

Folks, this is wonderful news and that being said, we need to get the word out to everyone who has not been a part of this project so far. It is going to be a beautiful place when they get through, and now the city is behind it, so it won’t be so impossible-seeming. They hope to have it all done by February for Black History month. And that is not far off.
