Heights Lodge #225 has been a working Odd Fellows Lodge
since the early 1900’s, and the building has remained relatively
intact. As membership fell off in the seventies, the building became
primarily used for entertainment purposes and rented out for various
social and/or religious groups. For the past seven years, a few
committed individuals have sought to not only preserve the building
as a historical
Houston landmark, but also make it the center for a local revival
of Odd Fellowship. The bottom floor houses the David G. Burnett
Museum of Texas History, showcasing the role of Odd Fellowship
in the founding
of the state of Texas, while the top floor contains the lodge room
in which all ceremonial and business meetings are conducted.

Heights Lodge currently draws membership from the surrounding
community. Membership is co-ed with about an equal ratio of men and
women. Members are active in the community, and lodge activities
are done with community spirit in mind. Meetings are in person, the
preferred method of communication being face-to-face, with grip and
word. Heights #225 strives to take charitable action on a regular
basis, all the while fostering friendship and fun not only amongst
members, but with anyone they are in contact with.
